Meet The Team - Kirsten Colley - Cheshire, UK
We have a fantastic team here at Popdance and we work with amazing dance teachers from all across the globe.
We’d like you to introduce Kirsten who is based in Cheshire, UK
What’s your name and where are you in the world?
Kirsten, Cheshire, UK
What kind of dance do you currently offer?
I have been teaching and performing professionally for over 10 years, specialising in hoop dancing and fire spinning.
I used to teach regular adult hula hoop dance classes in Wirral and Liverpool, but now mainly teach various dance styles for hen parties which i enjoy choreograpging the routines myself and also teach weekly clubbercise classes in Liverpool surrounding areas and also Chester.
I also teach Progressive Ballet Technique in Widnes for adults who have no dance experience, but understand the importance of preventing injuries in the gym as well as day to day activities.
I am also certified in DDMIX for adults and children
I look forward to teaching popdance including popdance parties and workshops for adults.
What got you into dance?
I was a very shy child but enjoyed attending dance classes where it allows me to escape in to a world of music. Why people feel the need to dance when they hear music has always been a fascination which I wrote about for my BA degree in music.
I enjoy teaching fun dance classes to adults as we often get caught up with adult worries and forget to relax and have fun in a safe environment where you can leave your worries at the door and even make new friends. When teaching dance hen parties it is beautiful to see people who walk in to class unsure of what will happen or feel they won’t be able to keep up, then walk out with their heads held high and a big grin on their face.
What do you like to do in your spare time?
If I’m not listening to music and dancing to the same songs I bounced around to as a teenager in the 90s, I’m listening to comedy
What do you love about the area you live and work in?
I love how beautiful and peaceful Cheshire can be, but I will always love how friendly and fun Liverpool and surrounding areas are.
Why did you want to work with Popdance?
Classes look fun and close to what I teach and choreograph myself, so I knew I would enjoy being apart of it all.
What are you looking forward to for the year ahead?
I’m looking forward to creating new acts and performing on stage again
