Dance Parties in Brighton

What’s your name and where are you in the world?

I’m Mia Craig and I live in Brighton and London!

What kind of dance to you currently offer?

I currently offer commercial, contemporary, house, hip hop, waacking, locking, and other street styles.

What got you into dance?

I started dancing when I was 2 years old, taking Ballet classes. From there I did classes in Jazz, Modern, Tap and Ballet until the age of 16 where I started a contemporary course at Reigate College. After graduating College with a distinction, I went on to study Urban Dance at The University of East London. This course covers various styles including (but not limited to) house, hip hop, locking, popping, afro, afro contemporary, contemporary, capoeira and freestyle training. I am nearly finished with my degree.

What do you like to do in your spare time?

In my spare time, I take extra dance classes alongside my training to further develop my knowledge and skillset in various styles. Alongside this, I am passionate about yoga, pilates and other forms of fitness to explore and move the body. I am also dedicated to spirituality and bettering myself and my mental health.

What do you love about the area you live and work in?

London is great for work as there is so many different teachers and opportunities available meaning we can all learn as much as possible! Brighton has less teachers and opportunities but has an amazing community of close dancers.

Why did you want to work with Popdance?

I want to work with Popdance as i want to develop my skills as a dance teacher. I also love working with children and young adults to better themselves through the power of dance, and I believe Popdance is able to offer this for me! Also, from what I have seen through my research, Popdance has a close community of teachers which is something i would prioritise when looking for work.
