How are you going to get it all done?
This time of year is manic!
End of year shows, mini performances, pantos, nativities, shopping, wrapping, card-writing, running here, there and everywhere trying to fit everything in.
And will you find time to actually enjoy the build up to Christmas like you keep promising yourself every year?
It’s totally down to you!
Sometimes, we can just take on too much and then feel anxious, stressed and miss out on the enjoyment of December.
But it doesn’t have to be that way :)
Here’s our Top Tips on making sure you get it all done but still get time to watch Elf! (one of our favs):
Make a good old fashioned list.
Write down all the things you have to do both work-wise and personally.
Can you delegate any of them? Can any of your team take on some of them? Your partner or family with the personal ones?
Do one thing at a time and make sure you complete it before moving on to the next.
Take great satisfaction in crossing it off your list.
Don’t take on too much
It can be very tempting to say yes to everything, but, as we’ve discussed in previous blogs – saying yes, isn’t always the answer.
Make sure you are saying yes for the right reasons, i.e. do you really want to say yes, is it going to be profitable for you for instance?
By planning ahead you will feel calmer and more organised – even if it means adding more to your “list” – and this comes from someone who never planned – I am used to flying by the seat of my pants – but planning ahead has certainly given me more time to take a look around and see what is going on in the here and now and enjoy it.
Take time out
Taking time out of your busy schedule is really important. Whilst you think you have no time, ever, you can make the time. It is possible. Schedule time into your diary as if it was a dance class, or a meeting, and stick to it. I am going to schedule in time to watch Elf ;)
Don’t put off ’til tomorrow, what can be done today
Get those gifts wrapped whilst you are waiting for the kettle to boil, or you have 10 mins before a class. Little and often ;) Don’t put it off. Just get it done. Then you can sit back smugly and watch others around you go crazy with the cellotape on Christmas eve ;)
Watch Elf! (This should be top of the list!)
Enjoy the build up to Christmas – it is a very special time – and if you don’t stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it (thanks Mr Bueller).
