What got you into dance?

I grew up in Germany with my parents and started dancing from the age of seven and came to live in Scotland in 2000.

After leaving school I auditioned and did a full time 3 year course run in conjunction with Moray College UHI and undertook the two year full time Professional Teacher Training Course. I graduated in 2006 with an NC in Dance Performance and internationally recognized teaching qualifications from the Royal Academy of Dance and the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dance.

I have taught full time performing art students and school age pupils, both in the UK and Hong Kong where I gained valuable experience from DMR School of Ballet.

Returning to Scotland I taught primarily for Moray Dance but did classes for North Aberdeenshire Dance School in Old Meldrum and Tarvis, Gordonstoun Private School.

I have continually improved my professional development undertaking further examinations with the RAD and attending many courses to maintain my high standards and to ensure that I am up to date with whatever syllabi that I teaches.

Having performed in many successful shows I have also organized and helped choreograph numerous sell out performances during my training and my teaching career.

I have also entered children for dance examinations under the ISTD and RAD in UK and Hongkong and hold a 100% pass rate.

What I love about teaching is when a child has mastered a step that he/she has been working on for weeks. When suddenly it all clicks into place and they then strive for the next progression.

What do you like to do in your spare time?

Walking Bella and Franki – my beautiful cocker spaniels. I have recently had a baby too, as a first time mum I am getting used to all things baby! I also likes to keep my personal fitness in tact so joined my local gym for classes such as Spinning, Les Mills Body Combat and Body Pump.

What do you love about the area you live and work in?

Lossiemouth is a beautiful place to live and teach. We have two lovely beaches, woodlands to explore, nice restaurants and the people are very friendly. I also teach in Elgin, which is 5 miles from Lossiemouth. Elgin is a more built up town with more shops and the Town Hall where we do our shows. I have also taught in Forres and Kinloss, like Lossiemouth, Kinloss has an RAF base so the children I teach are a mix of locals and RAF children.

Why did you want to work with Popdance?

Working with Popdance allows me to expand my love for teaching. The workshops/parties that are available enable me to provide something fun, new and exciting. I love the team that represents Popdance, you feel supported, encouraged and gives a new sense of motivation.

What are you looking forward to for the year ahead?

Of course just now we are in hard times with Covid-19, however I am looking forward to getting back into face to face classes, promoting Popdance and widening it’s potential throughout my area.
