Summer Holidays and Dance Teachers
Here it comes! It’s not long now until the summer holidays! Where does time go?
Do you take time off? Recharge the batteries?
Do your classes tend to stop outside of term time?
Do you feel that work dries up for you in the summer holidays?
Here’s our Top Tips on Summer Holiday fun as a dance teacher or fitness instructor:
Take a break
Even though we all have to earn a living – life is for living – “life moves pretty fast, if you don’t stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it” – the wise words of Mr Ferris Bueller who “took the day off” 30 years ago yesterday!!!
Take time out, spend time with family and friends, appreciate why you work so hard ;)
Speak to school holiday activity providers
There are many school holiday camps, workshops, play in the parks, and people looking for things to occupy the kids during the holidays. Get in touch with local providers, i.e. the Council, multisports companies, local leisure centres and offer your services. We provide full camps covering the school day for working parents, as well as workshops and work with many providers. Companies love to have variety within what they are offering the children, plus it gives their staff a break during a long day.
Run your own school holiday camps and workshops
Have you thought about running your own? We work with many dance studios and venues and some of the camps we run include time in an attraction – i.e. one of the studios is located next door to a softplay – we take the children for an hour or so into the softplay as part of the camp – so they get time in a different environment and it also gives our instructors a bit of a break.
You may also like to offer perhaps a morning workshop if you didn’t want to do the whole day.
Parties
What about throwing a summer party? A couple of hours of party fun – perhaps theme it and get the kids involved, dressing up, get creative.
Take time to reflect
Are you where you wanted to be now that we are 6 months into the year?
What do you want to achieve by Christmas?
How are you going to achieve that?
How has the first 6 months of 2015 been for you?
What could you improve on?
Plan
Taking time away from the usual routine makes a massive difference when planning ahead. Once the children are back at school, Halloween and Christmas are soon upon us, so think about what you might offer, plans you need to make to ensure it isn’t suddenly upon you.
Make Connections
Team up with other dance teachers and fitness instructors. Perhaps you might want to plan a show together, or run an event together – joint marketing works wonders.
Enjoy – remember to put your feet up with an ice lolly at some stage too!
