Meet The Team – Heather Shearer – North Wales UK
We have a fantastic team here at Popdance and we work with amazing dance teachers from all across the globe.
We’d like you to introduce Heather who is based in North Wales, UK
What’s your name and where are you in the world?
Hi, I’m Heather and I am based in North Wales, United Kingdom.
What kind of dance do you currently offer?
I am currently offering dance workshops in Jazz, Modern dance, Contemporary, Lyrical, Technique and Dance Fitness
What got you into dance?
My passion for dance started when I was really young, it has helped with my confidence a lot and has given me so many memories. I believe everyone should have the opportunity to dance and to be able to enjoy what we love about it.
I have 18 years dance experience, completing many dance examinations from ISTD and NATD, and I have recently graduated with a BA(Hons) in Dance from Edge Hill University. I am trained and have experience in Ballet, Contemporary, Modern Dance, Jazz, Tap, Lyrical, Commercial, Irish, Flamenco and Capoeira.
I have performed in the Wizard of Oz at Storyhouse in Chester. I have also performed at The Dance World Cup in Portugal in 2019.
I currently work as a freelance dance teacher teaching specifically jazz and contemporary, and I have experience teaching ballet at University as part of the dance society there.
What do you like to do in your spare time?
In my spare time, I enjoy going to the theatre, reading, and watching movies, especially Marvel, Disney and romance movies. I spend a lot of time with my family and friends, as well as my dog. I love going on walks and being able to spend time outdoors.
What do you love about the area you live and work in?
North Wales is a great place as it has so much culture and creativity itself and also has great links to other places in the country.
Why did you want to work with Popdance?
I wanted to work with Popdance because they seem a fun and loving company and I would like to expand my experience and love teaching people about dance.

Meet The Team – Kirsten Colley – Cheshire, UK
We have a fantastic team here at Popdance and we work with amazing dance teachers from all across the globe.
We’d like you to introduce Kirsten who is based in Cheshire, UK
What’s your name and where are you in the world?
Kirsten, Cheshire, UK
What kind of dance do you currently offer?
I have been teaching and performing professionally for over 10 years, specialising in hoop dancing and fire spinning.
I used to teach regular adult hula hoop dance classes in Wirral and Liverpool, but now mainly teach various dance styles for hen parties which i enjoy choreograpging the routines myself and also teach weekly clubbercise classes in Liverpool surrounding areas and also Chester.
I also teach Progressive Ballet Technique in Widnes for adults who have no dance experience, but understand the importance of preventing injuries in the gym as well as day to day activities.
I am also certified in DDMIX for adults and children
I look forward to teaching popdance including popdance parties and workshops for adults.
What got you into dance?
I was a very shy child but enjoyed attending dance classes where it allows me to escape in to a world of music. Why people feel the need to dance when they hear music has always been a fascination which I wrote about for my BA degree in music.
I enjoy teaching fun dance classes to adults as we often get caught up with adult worries and forget to relax and have fun in a safe environment where you can leave your worries at the door and even make new friends. When teaching dance hen parties it is beautiful to see people who walk in to class unsure of what will happen or feel they won’t be able to keep up, then walk out with their heads held high and a big grin on their face.
What do you like to do in your spare time?
If I’m not listening to music and dancing to the same songs I bounced around to as a teenager in the 90s, I’m listening to comedy
What do you love about the area you live and work in?
I love how beautiful and peaceful Cheshire can be, but I will always love how friendly and fun Liverpool and surrounding areas are.
Why did you want to work with Popdance?
Classes look fun and close to what I teach and choreograph myself, so I knew I would enjoy being apart of it all.
What are you looking forward to for the year ahead?
I’m looking forward to creating new acts and performing on stage again
