Dance Birthday Parties and Workshops in Welwyn Garden City

Meet The Teachers - Emma Sharp - Hertfordshire

We work with brilliant dance teachers from across the globe – meet Emma who runs Popdance parties, workshops and classes across Hertfordshire

What’s your name and where are you in the world?

Emma Sharp – Hertfordshire, United Kingdom

What kind of dance do you offer?

Ballet, Tap, Modern, Jazz, Street, Acro, Cheerleading

What got you into dance?

I started dancing when I was 2 1/2 at a small community centre near where I lived as my Grandparents were keen to get me to a class as I wouldn’t stop dancing around when they look after me!

I am now a qualified ISTD dance teacher, teaching all different styles of dance – Ballet, Tap, Modern, Jazz, Street, Acro and cheerleading.

I LOVE what I do. Just seeing the students progress from where they start to where they are now is such an amazing thing to see!

Also I love the fact when I’m teaching (nothing else matters) I come out from teaching and forget what day it is!

Dance just makes me feel good & I get a real buzz from it. I can forget about everything else and just have fun! I love being creative with choreography

I danced from the age of 2 1/2 at a local dance school.

At the age of 16-18 I trained as a Personal Trainer gaining my Level 3 PT in Fitness & Instruction.

At 18 I trained professionally at Anthony Clifford Studies & gained my DDE (teaching Qualification in ISTD Modern & Tap.

Then trained at Dance Projection and gained my DDE in ISTD Ballet.

I also qualified as an Acrobatic teacher.

What do you like to do in your spare time?

I love going out for meals (I’m a massive foodie!) and spending time with family.

I love a spa day and getting my nails done.

What do you love about the area you live and work in?

In Hertfordshire I love that the community of dance teachers is so close and if you ever need help or guidance there’s always someone to help.

Hertfordshire has a great selection of theatres for Annual or Bi-Annual dance shows for dance schools.

Why did you want to work with Popdance?

I am always looking to broaden my teaching skills and wanted to start working on some parties. I have done a few in the past but wanted somewhere where I can hopefully get some more booked in!

Again, also looks like a good community of teachers.

Not only for my physical health but my mental health too – when I dance and listen to music that I love / brings back fond memories (nostalgia feeling), I am on such a natural high which positively affects every other area of my life.

I wholeheartedly believe in the power of movement and music – I wanted to find and join a community that believes the same.

I love how in Sawbridgeworth it is such a small community and I can’t go anywhere without seeing someone I know and stopping to have a conversation.

I love Bromley (where I am training) as it is a bit bigger but has a really friendly feel and there is the Churchill Theatre that has west end shows being played out of it.

Dance Birthday Parties and Workshops in Welwyn Garden City

Meet The Teachers – Emma Sharp – Hertfordshire

Meet The Teachers – Heather Whatley

Meet The Teachers – Heather Whatley

All of our Popdance Teachers are qualified, experienced, friendly, fun and absolutely LOVE what they do.

Meet Heather, who’s currently based in Crouch End, London

What’s your name and where are you in the world?

Heather – London, England

What kind of dance do you currently offer?

Dance fitness for all levels and ages to fun upbeat songs / songs that touch the soul – think wedding vibes, film songs and Taylor Swift :)

What got you into dance?

I have always loved dance – I grew up taking dance classes and just always loved to move / how it made me feel.

And I absolutely love weddings – how they create such an atmosphere of joy, love and positivity. I just wish I had more to go to.. :)

I taught zumba for a number of years, adding a bit of my own twist, and now I have completed the Active IQ Level Exercise to Movement and Dance Certification as well as the Keep FIt Association Level 3 Dance Laban FItness Certification.

I want to teach to create a positive community for anyone (and any level) through movement.

What do you like to do in your spare time?

Well, I love to move :) Run, long walks, yoga, dance, golf!

I also love travelling, photography, writing and learning a new language.

I love meeting new people from different cultures so London truly provides that incredible melting pot of people.

What do you love about the area you live and work in?

I live in Crouch End, London – such a beautiful part of North London with incredible nature at your doorstep: Queens Wood, Highgate Wood, the Parkland Trail and tons of parks.

Quaint cafes and shops all around – a true villagey feel with Muswell Hill and Highgate just up the road.

I work in Covent Garden – one of my very favourite areas of central London particularly at Christmas time.

Why did you want to work with Popdance?

It’s right up my alley! :) I truly believe music can heal the soul – that is the exact case for me.
